Topic: World Tuberculosis Day Awareness Programme 2026
World Tuberculosis Day was observed on 24th March 2026 by the Community Health Nursing Department under the guidance of Dr. Swapna Melchisedec (Principal of Mohandai Oswal College of Nursing) at CHC Sahnewal and Jawadhi. The programme aimed to create awareness regarding the prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, and control of Tuberculosis. It was organized in alignment with the global theme, "Yes! We Can End TB: Led by countries, Powered by people."
The B.Sc. Nursing 5th Semester and Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing 2nd Year students actively participated in the programme and conducted various awareness activities for the community. An informative awareness talk was delivered by the students, highlighting key aspects such as causes, transmission, signs and symptoms of Tuberculosis, the importance of early diagnosis and sputum examination, availability of free treatment under the National TB Elimination Programme, treatment adherence, and preventive measures.
The programme also included poster presentations and role play, which effectively communicated the importance of early detection, timely treatment, prevention, and collective responsibility in eliminating TB.
